Adolf Loos (1870-1933), riconosciuto come uno dei più significanti profeti dell'architettura moderna, era una star dei suoi tempi, conosciuto come un dandy audace e moralista che sfidava l'establishment. Partiendo de la idea de que el museo como espacio de recogimiento dedicado a la muestra y contemplación de obras de arte ha perdido su anclaje en la realidad, y de que el objetivo de su construcción es en la actualidad regenerar el espacio urbano, promover la industria turística y conseguir réditos políticos, el autor reconstruye la historia del museo y analiza los elementos que más controversia han causado, desde la falta de una colección permanente, hasta su lugar en el imaginario nacionalista.
