Cuando los primeros colonos llegaron a los Estados Unidos de América y comenzaron a buscarse la vida en aquel entorno natural, tan duro y poco familiar para gentes procedentes de Europa, jamás habrían podido soñar que, algún día, esa tierra que pisaban se convertiría en uno de los países más poderosos del mundo.

En los anales historiograficos -dicen los autores en el prefacio- es poco lo que se sabe sobre lo que ocurrio en el estado de Durango durante la Revolucion. La intencion de los autores es reparar esa ausencia historiografica y profundizar en el papel que tuvo Durango, cuna de Pancho Villa, uno de los protagonistas de la lucha armada mexicana.
