Josué El libro de Josué tiene un gran interés teológico; en él encuentra cumplimiento la promesa hecha a los patriarcas de una tierra para sus descendientes, pero también se prevé la pérdida de esta tierra buena como castigo por la idolatría. Es, por consiguiente, como la piedra angular del gran arco que se extiende desde el Génesis hasta 2 Reyes. Literariamente, ofrece algunos de los relatos más famosos de la historia bíblica: el envío de los espías a Jericó, el paso del río Jordán, la caída milagrosa de las murallas de Jericó, la asamblea de Siquén, en la que el pueblo se compromete a servir a Yahvé.
