Sinopsis del Libro

Libro Poesía del flamenco

"I have affection for these lyrics, these flamenco poems, because I created them with care and dedication. My background is as a painter, but it's always bothered me that singers voiced the pains and joys of others. I've always thought that a person is better able to transmit a feeling if they're the one feeling it."

There is a woman who appears and disappears in the life of this almost 60-year-old musician, like an angel or demon, and removes everything. So much so that this confessional story begins that has the intensity with which a stranger is spoken to a stranger in a bar. Deeply traversed by music, history covers the character's relationship with alcohol, with women, with children, with the passage of time, but also with his artistic decisions and the role of his generation in culture and society. The songs are entangled in the discourse as in life, that echo in the wood that becomes lyrics and...

Spanish/English Piano Method, Level 1

Libro Spanish/English Piano Method, Level 1

Piano students of Latin American heritage often do not relate to the folk tunes that most methods use because the majority of those melodies do not flow with the rhythm of the Spanish language. This method is based on melodies original to the Mexican culture. These children's songs flow more naturally with the language, and in accord with the Kodály method of music education, give a better foundation for teaching basic musical elements in a Spanish language culture. Coupled with constant work on sight-reading, this new method is a valuable tool for native Spanish speakers in learning to play ...

Bachata and Dominican Identity / La bachata y la identidad dominicana

Libro Bachata and Dominican Identity / La bachata y la identidad dominicana

Bachata—a guitar-based romantic music that debuted in Santo Domingo’s urban shantytowns in the 1960s—is today one of the hottest Latin genres. Still, fans and musicians have not forgotten the social stigma the genre carried for decades. This book interweaves bachata’s history and development with the socio-political context of Dominican identity. The author argues that its early disfavor resulted from the political climate of its origins and ties between class and race, and proposes that its ultimate acceptance as a symbol of Dominican identity arose from its innovations, the growth...
